Coloursfest 2006

Yesterday night, Coloursfest (Scotland's biggest dance festival) took place in Glasgow and was broadcasted live on BBC Radio 1, including a live set of Paul Van Dyk! I really enjoyed it, and so can you! Listen again to the steam via BBC Radio 1. Look for 'Judge Jules', 'Fergie' and 'The Essential Mix'.

Groove Cats - Once in a lifetime groove

Early March I reported about Bob Sinclar's - World, Hold on. A few weeks later it was a worldwide hitsingle. Well, here's the next big summer hit to my opinion: the debut-single of the Groove Cats - Once in a lifetime groove, produced by Danny Corten and Mark Carpentier. Belgian label N.E.W.S. will release the single on June 19th. If you want to hear it before it's official release, check TOPradio or Donna. Source: Musicitems.be

Jumpstyle weekend: Bassleader and Complex

Even though 'Jump' is not my favorite music style, I attended two parties last week which were fully dedicated to this new subculture in Belgium. A growing number of youngsters aged fourteen to twenty choose jump as their favorite music. Bassleader organized by Darcon Productions took place at Flanders Expo in Ghent on Wednesday May 24. Me, Maaike and more than 10.000 other party people gathered in three areas to enjoy performances of DJs like Coone, Darkraver, Ruthless ,CJ Bolland, Ghost, Manu Kenton, Marco Remus and many more. VJ and Laser services were provided by FOU69. In the main area 32 plasma screens were interconnected to form one big background display which featured live stream images of the DJ's mixed with Resolume video effects. My picture and video report can be found here. On Saturday I visited one of Belgium's most popular jumpstyle clubs, Complex, home of DJ Coone, Dark-E and D-Feat. Guest DJ for the night was Ronald V. This was my second visit to Complex and again I preferred the second room above the mail hall. The ambi & music (electro/trance/groove) got my preference above the hard pounding beats in the main hall, though one exception, DJ Coone, which has phenomenal mixing skills and is the author of some great tracks like Infected - the Reverze 2006 Anthem. No pictures or videos of this party - thanks to Joeri, Ilse and Savannah for the nice night out.
